This authentic Shrimp Etouffee recipe is a traditional Cajun or Creole staple meal. The dish is made with onions, peppers, celery & a thick, deep brown roux-based sauce. 

INGREDIENTS

– olive oil –  butter –  all-purpose flour – green peppers – yellow onions – stalks Diced – garlic cloves – Creole Seasoning *all ingredients below

Heat the butter/olive oil in a pan or skillet. Once melted, whisk in the flour, stirring constantly.

Continue to stir until it reaches the desired color.

Add green peppers, celery, onions, and garlic to the pot & roux. Stir & cook.

Add spices, bay leaves, 2 cups of shrimp broth & Worcestershire sauce to the pot.

Stir & cover. Reduce the heat to medium-low & simmer.

Open the pot & add the shrimp.
